Boxing Theme Fondant Cake - 12/23/11

The wife of a boxing aficionado ordered this boxing theme cake for her hubby, who also happens to be a Pacquaio fan. The figure is made of fondant mixed with gum paste. The robe is made of gum paste with fondant letters and details. The shoes and gloves are made of fondant.

The cake is a 10"-inch square 3-layers of red velvet cake with cream cheese buttercream filling and crumbcoat, which is then covered in rolled marshmallow fondant. It is designed as a boxing ring. The decorations on the ring are made of edible prints on wafer paper. This is our first time to use our Canon edible printer.

The four posts are made of fondant mixed with gum paste with skewers inserted to use as "ropes". If we had the time, we would have dyed the sticks with food color, but we did not have. We were going to use yarn, but it did not work out. The skewers gave a straighter and clean finish. It's also food safe.
