Fall Theme or Friendship Cake

This cake is Jessica's gift to her best friend-- Elora, who turned 18 after Thanksgiving. The cake tells their story. Since they were in elementary Jessica and Elora have been close friends. They parted ways when Jessica's family moved to another city. They were apart for 3 years. Then, 3 years ago, Jessica's family moved back to a neighboring city, close to Elora's home. So, symbolically the bird perched on the branch is Elora while Jessica is the one flying back to be next to her. As requested by the celebrant, the cake is a red velvet cake with cream cheese/buttercream filling covered and decorated with marshmallow fondant.

Happy birthday Elora!

Fall Theme Cake Pops and Cupcakes

For our family get-together, we made some carrot cupcakes and cookies and cream turkey and pumpkin cake pops. Note: No pumpkins were harmed in the making of these cake pops. LOL.

So delish...we all had a Happy Thanksgiving!

We pardoned this one, for a few hours, but gobbled it up in the end.

Monster High Cake Pops

Girls love Monster High, so it was no surprise that these cakes pops were the choice for party favors for a Monster High theme party for a girl who just turned 8. This was shipped to Los Angeles. According to the mom, "the cake pops were a hit!".

Sleeping Snoopy Cake

Jessica's first cousin, Claire, celebrated her 2nd month birthday on Nov. 16th. Her parents had commissioned JessiCakes Project to make a cake for her each month. Claire's mom decided on the sleeping Snoopy design, which we happily obliged. This was our first square cake.

It's a 2-layered 9-inch square marble cake covered in olive green fondant. We create the cake in fall theme to depict the season. So, expect that the following cakes will show the current season. We're excited about December's cake, which is next week. It will be another cute cake just like this one.

Snoopy is made of part fondant and part gum paste. Woodstock was made of fondant. The leaves are also fondant. A funny accident happened while we were rolling the fondant to cover the cake. It was originally sort of electric or lime green in color. Then we covered the top of the chocolate crumbcoated cake, but the fondant ripped, as we did not realize it was rolled too thin. So, we massaged the chocolate with the fondant and voila-- olive green was produced! The olive green color worked better in a fall theme, so we got lucky!

Moral lesson-- sometimes, an accident happens for a reason. Luckily, this was for the right one!

Designer Bag Cake Pops

In early November, we had an order for Juicy Couture cake pops bound for Dallas, TX, but the person organizing the party had to cancel at the last minute. Fortunately, we have not added the logo yet for we know we can easily sell them. We got a group of girls who love Chanel and Louis Vuitton have them for they tea party that same weekend. They were already making chocolate chip cookies, but could not resist the vanilla flavored designer bag cake pops when we offered.

We quickly added the embellishments to fit their needs. Moral lesson-- always design something that can be versatile for a quick change. Glad we did! :)

Jessica's 17th Birthday- Rotating Anime Cake

On November 2nd, we celebrated Jessica's 17th birthday party quietly again, just like every year. Just us, some relatives on her dad's side, and her bestie- Elora. Mom Josie made this special cake for her-- a rotating anime cake depicting Jessica as a slayer (check out her sword) of evildoers of the universe. She rides a dragon (printed backdrop) with her trusty sidekick Cloud (our maltese). Many thanks to Mayen from Way Beyond Cakes by Mayen for the inspiration on the rotating cake. Her tutorial on it had inspired us to make our very first animated and rotating cake. If you remember, she also inspired us to use party LED balloon lights, which we used on Optimus Prime.

The birthday girl was so happy to see herself as an anime character since she's a big anime fan!

The cake is a mango cake with peach and mango cream cheese/mascarpone filling covered in caramel marshmallow fondant. It was raining heavily so the cake was not as smooth as we have hoped for due to humidity.

Happy birthday Jessica...we love you!!!

The seahorse fondant decorating the front is her favorite stuffed toy- Starburst!
