Rock Star Cookies - 040412

Sugar cookies were cut into star shapes. Then, we brushed a generous layer of royal icing. Finally, we topped the cookies with strawberry flavored fondant brushed with luster dust of pink and lilac. We used letter impressions to write the "Rock Star" on each cookie. These cookies were served as party favors along with some Monster High cake pops.

Rock Star Girl Cake - 033112

Not very often do we get a request that's not from a too girly girl. This order was a rush, back in March 31st. The cake is made of 2 layers of dark chocolate with choco mousse filling. Cupcakes are french vanilla and strawberry flavored. Cake pops are vanilla and strawberry flavored. Wish we had enough time to dry and cure the number "5"...it was still a bit soft until delivery. Customer's happy, that's all that matters! ♥ :)

Bridal Shower Favors

Brides deserve only the best, not only on their wedding day, but also on their bridal shower party. Cake pops make excellent favors. They can be personalized to match the theme of the party. In March, we made bridal shower cake pops for two different brides. One request was for a more formal color-- grey, black and white, with a hint of purple that matches the colors of the bridal shower invitation. The other was for a bride to be who loves polka dots and teal color. Both have different styles to match the brides.

So, next time you're thinking of special favors for the bridal shower, think of cake pops!

Purple and Pink Minnie Mouse Hat Cake and Cake Pops - 032412

Remember Caleigh? We made her a Hello Kitty theme cake and cupcakes for her Christening. On her first birthday, her mom asked for a Minnie Mouse hat style cake, but asked that the color be devoid of black, specifically, she asked for plum and pink colors.

The cake pops were made in matching colors. This is a double layer 9-inch tuxedo cake. It was raining heavily all day so our fondant is not as smooth as we hoped it would be. However, overall, we're happy with the outcome. They just look so adorable...don't you agree? :)

Hope you all like them!

Minnie Mouse Candy Apples - 032012

In March, we had an opportunity to stretch our limits a bit. We received an order for candy apples in Minnie Mouse theme. Fortunately, we were able to pull it off by using granny Smith apples, some caramel syrup and candy melts in pink and brown color. We used big marshmallows for the ears and used fondant cut out in circles for the polka dots. As you can see from the photos, we also made cake pops to match. They're soooo cute!

Hula Girl for an 85-year old- 031812

The wife was throwing a Hawaiian Luau style party for her husband who turned 85 on 3/18/12. Her daughter found a picture of a cake that has a blonde girl dressed in hula skirt. This is our rendition of that inspiration. We apologize for the low photo quality. We were pressed for time that we weren't able to take pictures at our studio. Instead, we used our digital camera (the old one) to take a few shots after setting up at the house of the celebrant. The cake is made of 2-layered 10-inch white cake with lemon filling and then 3-layered 8-inch chocolate cake with chocolate mousse and fudge frosting. All covered in fondant. The hula girl figure is 50/50 gumpaste/fondant. The flowers and other decorations are fondant. The sand are graham crackers that were pulverized. :)

Kiddie Camaro for a 3-year old - 031712

Our first sculpted car cake is a 3 1/2 layers of chocolate cake with chocolate buttercream whipped frosting. It measures 9 x 13 and weighs like a ton! Heavy rains gave us a lot of trouble, causing the fondant to bubble and tear. We had to double the fondant layers to lessen the imperfection. We used party lights as headlights.

Tie & Mustache Theme Cake and Cake Pops - 031012

This theme is so cute. The mom of the birthday boy who's turning 1 year old found this theme on the Internet and fell in love with it. Who could blame her? We fell in love with it too! The cake is made of 3 layers of cookies and cream cake with cream cheese buttercream frosting with crushed cookies and cream. The cake pops come in 3 flavors - Red velvet (baby blue), banana (lime green) and chocolate (aqua). The client sent us the photo of the baby boy's shirt for inspiration.

The mom can really throw a party. She loves to create beautiful dessert tables, so when it was time for her son's 1st birthday, she left no stones unturned. With a set theme in mind-- mustache and tie theme, our collaboration created a masterpiece. The birthday boy, Jaycob, has the final word-- "Winner!"

We made the cake and cake pops while the mom made the matching cupcakes. She also created a very beautiful display.

Toy Story 3 Theme Cake Pops

Back in March, we made these adorable cake pops in Toy Story 3 theme. We made a dozen of Hamm, Mr. Potato, and Alien. 6 of each in Nutella flavor and the other 6 in cookies and cream. All 36 cake pops were wrapped in food safe cello bags and tied with ribbons (blue for cookies and cream and yellow for the nutella cake pops). We also added Toy Story 3 favor tags to match.

Time Flies...Hello Summer Vacation!

Hi folks, Jessica here. Mom and I had been super duper busy these past few months that we did not realize we haven't posted anything new on this blog. Our apologies on that. We should do better. I guess from now on, as soon as we update our Facebook fan page, we should also update our blog right after. This way, we keep both sites up to date.

Well, first off, a non-cake related update about me. I have graduated from high school... yay! Finally, my hard work paid off. I finally wore the blue gown and cap. I felt so honored and proud on my graduation day, which was held on May 24th at the Vacaville Performing Arts Center in Vacaville, CA. My proud parents, grandparents (Naynay and Lolo), my uncles (Tito John and Tito Nel), auntie Mary Grace, grand uncle Tito Pros, and grand aunt Tita Linda along with my cousins (Annemarie, Angelica, and Claire) witnessed me, along with the other graduates of CAVA (California Virtual Academies) Class of 2012, marched and accepted my recognition. So happy also that I ended the school year with a bang-- straight A! I thought I would get a B on AP Calculus, but glad I got an A. I also graduated with the Dean's High Honor award. Sorry, bragging is not really my cup of tea, but I felt so happy with my accomplishment. It was the toughest year in high school.

So, what's next for me you ask? I am going to attend UC Davis (University of California in Davis) College of Biology this fall. I'm so excited to start this new journey. I'm taking pre-med, majoring in Genetics. I hope to someday become a successful doctor. We're moving to Vacaville, CA to be closer to my school. I really don't like to live on campus. I have so many activities outside of campus, such as church and JessiCakes Project, that is why I prefer to stay off campus and live with my parents. My parents and I are so close we do many things together as a family. Since I am still their dependent and an only child, they also agree that I should stay home. It's also economical this way. I don't have to pay dorm or rent!

Having studied at home with CAVA from middle school to high school, going back to the traditional brick-and-mortar environment may take a bit of adjusting. However, I am excited for what the future holds. I'm excited to meet new friends and professors.

In honor of my school-- I made these cake pops in their colors (well close.. supposed to be blue and gold not blue and yellow, but I do not have any gold tint for the fondant).

Here's to UC Davis! Here's to the future. Bring it on!
